Local Woman Launches Wig Line After Losing Hair

When Kelly Giblin started losing her hair in big chunks four years ago, she was devastated and began looking for wigs to wear. But she found it frightening to go to wig shops alone.
“It was traumatic, especially, since I had no hair, so I had to take off my head coverings and expose that to people I didn’t know, so it was very traumatic,” Giblin says.
She has alopecia, so her body rejects her hair cells and she is partially bald. Giblin started her own wig shop in Bakersfield called Lemonade Locks, in order to help other women shop for wigs with ease. The name is based on Giblin’s theme; When life hands you lemons, call lemonade locks.

Team Lemonade Locks Participates in the 2012 ACS Relay For Life (5/4/12-5/5/12): Once again, Lemonade Locks was thrilled to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event in Bakersfield, California, the weekend of May 4-5, 2012. Teaming with the Law Firm of LeBeau-Thelen, everyone had a great time for a great cause and our combined efforts raised well over $13,000 for ACS! Special thanks to all of our teammates who made this year such a success!
